INNOVATION TAROT

Coin of Innovation
Look for where lawyers add value and you will find where they innovate. Traditionally, one of the critiques of the profession is that it fails to understand what constitutes added value and then does not supply it. Adding value and innovation goes hand in hand in the legal sector. For example, after making strenuous efforts to really understand the requirements of their commercial coleagues, the legal team at ASDA instituted a ‘Keeping it Simple’ campaign. They now make sure that all their advice is couched in simple, everyday English rather than legal jargon. This straight-forward initiative has enhanced the way the business negotiates contracts and has made access to essential legal knowledge easier. The legal team’s effort to add genuine value to the business resulted in this simple but effectively innovative campaign.
